How does your machine learning work for product recommendations?

Our machine learning algorithm assesses user behavior across 4 key inputs:

  • Individual Customer Behavior - this includes pages visited, search terms, products clicked, products added to cart, etc.
  • Aggregate Customer Behavior - second, we aggregate behavior across customers to draw correlations.
  • Product Catalogue Data - third, we incorporate product catalogue data such as product titles, categories, sub-categories, product descriptions, and keywords.
  • Custom Variables - Lastly, we incorporate custom variables such as product color or price points.

Can I override suggested products? (For example, to satisfy merchandizing needs, campaigns, etc.)

Yes. You are able to set specific product recommendation rules.

Like other recommendation widgets, you can select which visitors see these rules based on site engagement (ex. First time visitors, cart content, products viewed), onsite behavior (ex. Current URL, visited URLs, time on page), traffic source, visitor environment (weather, geographic location, device), or visitor insights (customer profile, retention segment).

How do the product recommendation insertions work? Do we need to redesign our pages or insert additional tags?

You do not need to redesign any pages. During setup, we style the recommendation widgets to match your site.

Before we turn recommendations live, you are able to see the recommendations and give feedback.

What counts as a sale/conversions? What is your attribution model for product recommendations?

We attribute sales only to products that have been sold following a click on a recommendation within 24 hours.

In the dashboard the graph of conversion of people who clicked means customers who clicked on any recommendation even if they have not bought it.
